The Northeast Transmission System

The government of the Republic of Ecuador, launched the prioritized project called Northeast Transmission System (NTS), through which the delivery of clean energy from the National Interconnected System to the unincorporated isolated electrical systems located in northeastern Ecuador will be guaranteed.

The NTS will allow the connection of oil fields to the national system. The Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources promote and will carry out Public Selection Processes  (PSP) to concession to private companies, the NTS.

NTS Overview

Power demand: 300 MW.

Lenght: 290 km (230,138 and 69 kV).

Substations: 6 (415 MVA).

Concession: 30 years.

Investment: USD $ 386 million.

Construction: 30 months.

Public Selection Process (PSP)

•The PSP will be awarded to the offer that, complying with the technical, legal and financial requirements, offers the lowest value for transmission.

•The awarded company will oversee the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the NTS.

Evaluation of the economic offer

Access to information: The interested party shall pay US $ 20 000 for acquiring the participation rights, documents and studies.

• The Ministry will consider the following requirements:

1. Financial capacity.

2. Technical background .

3. Legal requirements.

4. Compliance with the technical offer established in the TOR.
